Burning Man in New York

Burning Man in New York

The days are back to normal. Meaning. My children are back in school and I can work with that I love and what makes me high. So let's do some yoga and write about it.

I met Francesca Bove this summer in a quick workshop in Hiyoga, Göteborg, Sweden. She is a yoga director and guide mentor, and also owner of this amazing place on 274 Bowery, 2nd Floor in New York, called Woom Center. She invited me to visit the studio when I was back in NY and I was so exited when I saw a workshop coming up called From Home To Home: Burning Man Decompression Sound Experience with David & Elian Zach-Shemesh.

So for those of you who are not familiar with the concept....It wasn't until some years ago I heard about something that blew my mind and that I have been wanting to travel to since then:  Burning Man in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. It is a pretty unusual festival in a temporary metropolis, in this nowhere, where you can experience art, self-expression, creativity and self-reliance. A what?! Oh, yes!

Therefore, to take Burning Man to me here to New York was a big deal. So I took my bike and went downtown Manhattan. Which, by the way, you have to do if you come to the Big Apple! This ride, even if Manhattan bridge feels more like Mount Everest than a bridge when you are on a bike, gives you the most amazing view of the city. Not even the passing subway trains or the fast and furious bicyclists can make it less exciting.

I found a good spot for my bicycle, which means a place where I could double lock it, and went up the white steps. When I opened the door I felt some kind of amazing incense in the air. I checked in and took a cup of tea and took a seat in a sofa that just became better and better the more time I spent in it. Chamomile tea - my favourite. The warmth in the room, the smell and and taste of my tee already started to move me a place where I had never been. The room felt like a very good friend's comfortable living room, I was totally relaxed and safe. And this journey was just a beginning.

I would love to tell you details about those 3 hours, but I can't. But I can say WOW. I have never in my life had an experience like this. I met demons, angels, children, heaven, hell, space, in and out, upp and down, fire, calm, anger, hate, love, passion, energy, spasm, rhythm, breath, voice, music, vibration and love in one single minute, in one single WOOM.

And on my way home, on my bike I tried to define what I did that night. My blood was pulsing in my ears, my heart was full and my soul was light and easy. I was free.
